Skidmore Peter
has a life long interest in lighting, starting at three years old when
he found that a "Meccano" strip, used to remove a bedside lamp's plug
from a wall socket conducted electricity with shocking results
From 1960 he was involved in
school and university productions, culminating as technical director
in Newcastle's "People's Theatre", a 500 seat Victorian building fully
equipped with the latest in remote controlled dimming
On moving to Tring in 1973 he
brought this experience to the new "Tring Theatre Company, acting in a
number of their productions and becoming Technical Director in 1976.
He started obtaining lighting
and other stage equipment from the age of fifteen and by 1978 had
accumulated sufficient material to support a simple show.
As a professional scientist
he has visited 67 countries always trying to enjoy local theatre with
considerable local challenges. He and his wife Jenny (who
provided invaluable catering and administrative support) live in Tring,
surrounded by stores of equipment, overseas students and a cat. |
